Setting Up Your Wiki Page

Page history last edited by Patrick 10 mos ago

brewerpatrickThis semester, you will be writing short posts about things we have read or discussed in class. I expect to see these concepts showing up in your reports, your presentations and your projects. In other words, think of everything we do here as intergrated in some way.

Setting up your page is very easy -- as is posting. We'll walk you through the steps for that right now.

Setting Up Your Page:

  1. On the right sidebar, along the top, Click on the link that says "Create A Page".
  2. You'll get to a screen that says "Name Your Page". Please use your last name first name (King Brad)
  3. Next you'll see a "Put This Page in Folder" dropdown menu. Choose "Students - Spring 2009"
  4. Click "Create Page" next to where you put your name
  5. Click Save.

Placing Your Page Link on the Wiki Home Page:

Once you have set up your personal Wiki page and have done a simple test post, now you must place it on the home page of the class Wiki.

  1. Click min186 along the top of the site to take you to the home page.
  2. Click "edit" in the top tab bar
  3. Click into the student pages section of the Wiki
  4. Along the right sidebar, click on the link that says "Insert a link to a new page"
  5. An Insert Link pop-up box shows defaulting to a PBWiki page (that is ours). In the Page dropdown, find the name of your page. Click Insert.
  6. Click Save.

Your page should be inserted in the Student Pages section now. Please make sure it is in alphabetical order, by last name, so I can easily scroll through them. Don't be the person who messes that up.

Posting On Your Page:

  1. Once you create your page, you can access it by clicking on the link on the home page.
  2. You will be taken to a WYSIWYG page. This simply means "What You See Is What You Get". This operates like any word processor program (sucha s Word).
  3. You can see the format for posting here on the Test Page
  4. Always click Save when you are finished.
