Twitter is a mobile, social network that allows you to send messages to large groups of people via your mobile phone. This is sometimes called "micro-blogging" as it's limited to 140 characters (which is less than the 160 characters normally associated with text messaging).
But that's just the beginning of what Twitter can do.
For many, the idea of a social network that can follow your every 140-character thought is silly. Why, you ask, would anyone care to know what you're thinking every second of the day.
The answer is that they don't care. But there are more reasons to use Twitter than simply posting your every thought. We'll get into those (things like Citizen Logistics, for instance, which uses geo-located phone numbers and zip codes to form "flash mobs"....ahhh, I've lost you. Never fear, we'll get you there).
For now I want you to simply master the very simple Twitter tools.
